MJS U19 Evaluation Skate

Now that the Tier I and Tier II youth and junior hockey tryouts are complete, the Mid-Jersey Selects as an independent (non-tournament bound) team may have an evaluation skate and begin signing a team for the 2012 hockey season. All interested players must attend and skate on Wednesday, April 18th at 8:00pm.

We will be looking to add:

1) Full Commitment Players (12-14): Players will be committing to all practices, local games, and tournaments. This will be a two practice/two training session per week format geared towards local players. Practices will begin in June and run through November. To keep costs down, we will alternate between big and small sheets for practices. Local games will be scheduled against 18 AAA/Tier III opponents in a home and home format. We will play 10-12 local games.

2) Local Commitment Players (3-4): Player will be committing to all big ice practices and local games. Local games will be scheduled against 18 AAA/Tier III opponents in a home and home format. We will play 10-12 local games.

3) Tournament Only Players (3-4): This option is for players away at school who are home for the summer, as well as those individuals away at schools looking to play some competitive hockey and take part in the weight training before prep/college season.

Possible Tournaments: Chowder Cup, Jr. Bruins Showcase, and Beantown Fall/Summer Classic

Possible Showcases: These will be mini-tournements amongst our team, and teams we invite from the West New England Prep, the New England Fall Prep League, Tier III Jr teams, and college JV programs. We will conduct 2 showcases throughout the fall, the idea being to play one locally and another in Connecticut.

MJS 2012 U19 Team Information

The Mid-Jersey Selects will be fielding a U19 team for the 2012 hockey season. Its a great alternative to traditional midget or tier III junior hockey in the NJ area. The team will be registered with USA Hockey as an independent non-tournament bound team and will play from June 15th until November 15th with the possibly of an additional tournament around the Christmas / New Years holiday week.

The team will be co-coached by Sean Cromarty (MJS and Westfield High School) and Todd Wagenback (Titans AAA). In addition to two weekly team practices and skills sessions, all players will go through a rigorous workout and off-ice training routine.

Rather then play 40+ games as part of a league, the program will focus on building quality hockey players and showcasing them in a number of tournaments/showcases. Games will be limited to 8-12 home games with the possibility of reciprocal away games. The team will also participate in 4-5 high quality tournaments/showcases.

Complete participation and hard work will be expected of all players during both on and off ice sessions. This program is for serious hockey players who, through hard work and dedication, hope to move on to play tier I/II junior, prep school, and NCAA college hockey.

All players will receive approximately 12 FULL ICE practices, 6 skills sessions & 2 tournaments

’00-’01: One practice per week - One skills session every other week
‘98-’99: One practice per week - One skills session every other week - One off-ice training every other week
U16 & U18: One practice per week - One skills session every other week - One off-ice training per week

Pricing:

’00-’01 – $750.00 | ’98-’99 – $800.00 | U16 and U18 – $850.00

98’-99’: March 22nd at 6:30pm

MJS U16 Black and Bantam Schedule Changes

Due to tournament schedules, the following changes have been made to next week’s practice schedule:

U16 Black Team: Tuesday, may 31st, 2011 – No dryland training. Mandatory team practice at 6:45pm

Bantam Team: Tuesday, May 31st, 2011 – Dryland training starts at 5:45pm. Skills Sessions run at 6:45pm and 8:00pm

Memorial Day Tournament Updates

The MJS U16 Blue and Bantam teams will be playing in the 2011 Memorial Day Tournament at Ice Works. Each teams schedule page has been updated with the game times and opponents. Please check back the week of the tournament in case there are any changes.

MJS Jackets, Pants, and Hats

Orders for MJS warm-up jackets and pants must be submitted to the BSA Pro Shop no later then noon on Friday, April 29th, 2011. We will be ordering enough hats for everyone to buy one so no pre-order is necessary. Hats and jackets should be ready within a couple of weeks…. before any teams leave for tournaments.

Team Announcements:

Practice jerseys will be distributed at next weeks practices. Regular practice rotations start the week of April 18th. All schedules are subject to change based on tournament selections and schedules. Off-ice strength and conditioning will also start next week. See your team’s schedule page for dates and times.
